Successful Repair of ASD – Sinus Venosus Type

A 32 year old pleasant lady, mother of a 5yrs old child K/ c / o congenital heart disease / sinus Venosus ASD] L ->R shunt, approached us for an elective surgical closure of the defect.

The patient had no complaints the defect was detected at the age of 2 yrs. She followed up regularly with her pediatric cardiologist. She had no complications during the delivery of her baby.

She was taken up for surgery by Dr. Pavan Kumar and team .

The defect was closed using autologous pericardial patch. She was extubated in the ICU on the same day transferred to the ward on the next day. She was discharged from the hospital on 4th post op day.

Her post – operative 2 D – Echo showed ( N ) Inter arterial septum.
