Successful Invasive Thymoma Tumour Excision with Ministernotomy incision.

P.Myasthesia gravis is a serious neuromuscular disorder in which patients muscles get weakness and fatigued very early. This can happen to any group of muscles. One patient Mr. Figuarado 55 yrs old gentleman reported eye muscle fatigue and eye lid drooping to neurologist who tested him for this disorder and found him to be positive. This disease is due to a tumour of Thymus gland situated in anterior chest. This is confirmed by CT scan chest. Operative removal is the treatment of choice . This patient underwent same safely at Lilavati Hospital on 31 / 03 / 2005 by cosmatic ministernotomy incision. 3 x 3 x 3cm. Size tumour on left lobe of thymus gland was found stuck to hilum and pericardium and lungs.

Thymoma Tumour was carefully dissected and excised with out any damage to phrenic nerveand pericardium. Rest of the Thymus gland was also removed. Tumour was then sent for histopathology, which showed it to be a Invasive Thymoma tumour.

Patient had uneventful recovery with improvement in eye muscle functioning This shows successful treatment of tumours can be of immense help in improvement of patient's condition.
